Native American flutes are instruments of music, ceremony, entertainment, courtship and love. Some Navajo medicine men say a girl will find irresistible the boy who plays the flute for her.
Most traditional Navajo flutes were made of sunflower stalk, but today the flutes are evolving into a medium of artistic expression that uses a variety of materials. These beautifully handcrafted, 6-hole pine flutes are available only in the key of A.
Each Totem represents a different meaning:
EAGLE-Divine spirit, sacrifice, connection to creator, intelligence, renewal, courage, illumination of spirit, healing, creation, freedom, and risk-taker.
TURTLE- Nurturer, shy, and protecting.
BEAR- Industrious, instinctive, healing, power, sovereignty, guardian of the world, watcher, courage, will power, self-preservation, introspection, and great strength.
PONY- Freedom, stamina, mobility, the land, travel, power, and freedom.
BUFFALO- Sacredness, life, great strength, abundance, gratitude.
RAM- Stoic, sensitive, persevering, curious, imaginative.
MOUNTAIN LION- Family, strength, energy, courage, guardian and protector.
WOLF- Loyalty, perseverance, success, intuition, and spirit
This is a simple pine flute and is handmade by Jonah Thompson. It is a sample of Native American instruments and the diversity of Navajo culture.
